Colin Cowherd addresses Caleb Williams’ emotional reaction to injury

Caleb Williams’ hamstring injury remains one of the most talked about topics in the NFL. The Chicago Bears quarterback sustained it in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s matchup with the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field. Many players and analysts have addressed it, including Colin Cowherd.

Williams completed 15-of-26 passes for 138 yards and zero touchdowns in the 9-3 loss. The Vikings sacked him three times, and he threw one interception and finished with a 56.2 passer rating. Cairo Santos converted Chicago’s only score, a field goal in the first quarter, as the visiting team shut down Chicago in the last three periods.

The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner underwent tests on Monday. He is considered week to week and is not expected to practice in Week 3 ahead of the home game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cowherd addressed Williams’ emotional reaction to his injury on Monday. The veteran sports analyst also compared him to some NBA stars.

“People are freaking out,” Cowherd said. “I’m hearing this. Well, he cried. Remember when Wemby (Victor Wembanyama) cried during a regular season loss, and I said, ‘I’m for authentic.’ I don’t care. When you’re as generationally gifted as Caleb or LeBron (James) or Wemby or (Patrick) Mahomes and Josh Allen, you’re not carrying a team. You’re carrying a league. Kobe (Bryant), LeBron were carrying cities, franchises, teammates, coaches, the league, Nikes, Gatorades. And these guys are kids. Emote, brother. Whatever it takes, however it lands, I don’t care.

Tyson Bagent will likely start in Williams’s place if he misses time. However, he’ll need to return as early as possible as the Bears face the league’s toughest schedule. They entered the season with a lot of hype, and while the QB2 has shown flashes of brilliance, Chicago’s offense is at its best with Williams under center.
