The Chicago Bears fired from all cylinders in their season opener against the Carolina Panthers. The visitors defeated the home team 59-37, showing off their high-octane offense to the NFL world. However, they lost 9-3 last Sunday to the Minnesota Vikings, and an unwanted development involving them emerged.
Chicago struggled to score all-game long. Its only points came from a field goal by Cairo Santos in the first quarter. Caleb Williams completed 16-of-26 passes for 138 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. The star quarterback also went down with a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter. Tyson Bagent took over under center and finished with 5-of-9 completions for 54 yards.
The Bears entered the season with a lot of hype surrounding them. They won the NFC North last year with an 11-6 record and reached the Divisional Round. Many considered them as one of the Super Bowl favorites, but Sunday’s disappointing performance may have changed how they view the team now.

Chicago not only lost its season opener and saw its QB1 get hurt. The team’s 56-point drop from Week 1 to Week 2 is the most in the NFL in 53 years.
“After scoring 59 points in their season opener, the Bears only had three points in their 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday,” Bears Wire’s Ariana Pensey wrote. “That 56-point decrease in points from Week 1 to Week 2 is the most by any team since 1973.”
Williams reportedly avoided a serious injury and is considered week to week. However, he’ll likely won’t practice in Week 3 and is in danger of missing the matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. Bagent will have a big opportunity to prove his worth and lead the Bears to a bounce back victory.
It won’t be easy as the Eagles are 2-0 and are coming off a 24-20 come from behind win over the Tennessee Titans. The good news is Chicago has home-field advantage and are motivated to return to its wining ways.
