Caleb Wilson reveals his signature move, rookie goals with the Chicago Bulls

Caleb Wilson has a chance to bring meaningful basketball back to Chicago.
When the Chicago Bulls selected Wilson 4th overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, some viewed it as a steal. Wilson was a stud during his short tenure with the UNC Tar Heels and was in a stacked draft class, causing him to slip to 4th. Unfortunate for him, but potentially a gift for the Bulls.
He missed the final nine games of his freshman season at North Carolina due to two separate hand and thumb injuries. Before missing time, Wilson was on his way to an incredible season, leading the Tar Heels in points, rebounds, blocks, and steals. How he translates his game to the NBA will be an interesting storyline to follow, but many project him to have a great rookie season. He’s even the favorite for Rookie of the Year right now.
The NBA has been releasing episodes of its “X-Exclusive” series on the platform X. This follows some of the high-profile rookies set to enter the association, such as Caleb Wilson. In the most recent episode, Wilson revealed his signature move, which we saw multiple times in the Summer League.
“My go-to move is a hesi-pull. It’s just been opened up to me lately because I can shoot, and I can also drive. I’m trying to get the rim, and when I hesi and they jump? Blow by, you see what happened.” Referring to his monster slam this summer.

Wilson was also asked what he’d like to accomplish in his rookie season.
“One thing I want to say I accomplished is definitely Rookie of the Year. If not, I would definitely like to say I accomplished being a leader on my team.” Wilson also touched on his career goals: “In my NBA career as a whole, MVP, All-Defensive First Team, and a championship.”
All-Defensive First Team? Sign me up. Encouraging words to hear from the rookie.
Caleb Wilson is expected to contribute right away, but there will be growing pains
One big question for Caleb Wilson is: how will his game translate to the NBA?
Yes, he played very well in the Summer League, as most top picks do. It’s not the best way to tell how a player will fare during regular-season play, but it was encouraging nonetheless. A major area of improvement for Wilson was his shooting, particularly his three-pointer.
In the Summer League, he took off. He averaged 23.5 points per game and shot 42% from three. In his debut against Memphis, he shot 7-11 from three. He’s been progressing in a short amount of time, which is a great sign for the Bulls.
“Summer league has been very interesting. I’ve worked on a lot, so my game has changed since college.”
Hopefully, Wilson will be able to continue developing into an all-around scorer. If he can get a consistent three-point shot, he’ll be a tough task for opposing defenders.
