The Chicago Bears have packed their roster with a litany of potent pass catchers. But through the first two weeks of the season, Kalif Raymond leads the way with 13 receptions for 124 yards; both team-highs.
Raymond came to the Bears with plenty of hype in his own regard. He’s an experienced veteran who has worked with head coach Ben Johnson in the past. But Raymond was expecting to fill a WR3, ancillary-type role.
Instead, players like Rome Odunze, Luther Burden and Colston Loveland were expected to grab the headlines. The Bears felt comfortable trading away wide receiver DJ Moore due to the weapons they have. But so far, everyone expect Raymond hasn’t made much noise.
Facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3, the Bears need all their pass catchers to step up. One player in particular has been put on red alert.

As a rookie, Loveland led the team with 58 receptions for 713 yards and six touchdowns. Through the first two weeks of the 2026 campaign, the tight end has one catch for three yards. He was held without a catch in Week 1 completely.
Loveland had a similar slow start to begin his NFL tenure. But with ample experience playing under head coach Ben Johnson now, Alex Kay of Bleacher Report is expecting better results.
“Loveland’s fall-off looks even worse in wake of the hype he built up during the final two regular season games of 2025 when he racked up 185 yards and two touchdowns on 16 catches,” Kay wrote. “The tight end followed that up with a strong playoff display that included exploding for 137 receiving yards on eight receptions to help guide Chicago to a win over the rival Green Bay Packers.”
“With star quarterback Caleb Williams now week-to-week with a troubling hamstring injury, it won’t get any easier for Loveland to return to form,” he continued. “He’ll need to quickly establish chemistry with backup Tyson Bagent if he’s going to make any sort of impact when the Bears take on the Philadelphia Eagles in a pivotal Week 3 matchup.”
For whoever is playing quarterback, Loveland is expected to be a dangerous target. He showed off plenty of playmaking chops as a rookie. While he has been a ghost to begin 2026, no one has forgotten about Loveland.
Based on their QB situation, it’ll take quite the team effort to knock off the Eagles in Week 3. But Chicago’s star tight end finding his footing would certainly help the situation.
