WNBA superstar makes blunt statement after loss to Caitlin Clark, Fever

Caitlin Clark led the way for the Indiana Fever on Tuesday against the Minnesota Lynx at Gaibridge Fieldhouse. She recorded an impressive stat line to lead the team to a victory over the league leaders and improve to 28-15 for the season. The visiting team’s superstar forward, Napheesa Collier, delivered a blunt statement after the loss.

Clark produced a game-high 27 points, along with seven rebounds, nine assists and three three-pointers. Kelsey Mitchell contributed 20 points, three rebounds and four assists, while Aliyah Boston added 17 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Collier was limited to just nine points and two rebounds. She only played 13 minutes as the coaching staff pulled her and the starters out early in the 96-77 defeat. No player from the starting unit scored in double figures. Chloe Bibby finished with 15 points, and Liatu King and Aari McDonald combined for 22 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

Collier gave her honest take on how she and her teammates performed versus Clark and the Fever. She stressed that it was not something to be proud of.

“It’s embarrassing,” Collier said. “We should be disappointed and embarrassed about the product that we put on the floor tonight. Not proud of what we did.”

Minnesota converted just 22-of-77 field goal attempts. Collier and Kayla McBride were both -20 on the night and couldn’t stop Indiana’s attack. Clark and Mitchell wreaked havoc and toyed with the defense all game long.

The Lynx and the Fever will once again clash on Thursday at Target Center and will wrap up their regular-season schedules. Collier and Co. can clinch the No. 1 seed in the playoffs with a win. They remain on top of the standings with a 32-11 record, while Clark and her team are 28-15 and sitting in fifth place.
