Caitlin Clark reacts to engagement news

Caitlin Clark has had a lot to celebrate this season. The Indiana Fever are assured of a playoff berth and the star guard recently won a gold medal with Team USA at the FIBA World Cup. She also reacted to the engagement news of her former Iowa Hawkeyes teammate, Sydney Affolter.

Clark is coming off a subpar performance on Thursday against the Minnesota Lynx. She finished with just two points, four rebounds and three assists in the 86-66 loss. The star guard played only 14 minutes and was a -22 on the night.

Meanwhile, Affolter went undrafted in the 2025 WNBA Draft. She and Clark played alongside each other for four collegiate seasons, helping the program reach back-to-back national championship games. However, they lost to the LSU Tigers in 2023 and the South Carolina Gamecocks the following year.

Affolter posted a carousel of photos on Instagram on Thursday. It captured the time her now-fiancé popped the question and asked her to marry him.

Clark dropped her reaction in the comments section.

“Yyayayayayayaya loveeeee congrats!!!” Clark wrote.

She and the Fever finished the regular season as the No. 6 seed. While they won’t have homecourt advantage at least in the first round, it’s hard to count them out. Indiana has a formidable lineup led by its three-headed monster of Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston. The team also has an experienced coaching staff led by head coach Stephanie White.

The Fever entered the season as one of the title favorites. They have a chance to live up to expectations but the road ahead won’t be easy. Clark and Co. will need to pull off some upsets to reach the WNBA Finals against other favored championship contenders. The playoffs will begin on Sunday, with the Finals set in late October.
