Caitlin Clark facing WNBA fine after Indiana Fever game

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever stayed alive in the WNBA playoffs with a Game 2 win over the Las Vegas Aces. They entered Tuesday’s matchup at Gainbridge Fieldhouse trailing 0-1 in the best-of-three series and at the brink of elimination. The superstar guard delivered an impressive performance but is also facing a fine from the WNBA.

Clark finished with 27 points on 9-of-18 shooting, including 5-of-11 from beyond the arc. She also recorded seven rebounds and a playoff career-high 15 assists. Kelsey Mitchell backed her with 26 points and three three-pointers, while Aliyah Boston contributed 22 points, four rebounds and five assists.

Meanwhile, Jackie Young led Las Vegas’ charge with a game-high 31 points, along with four rebounds and five assists. A’ja Wilson added 22 points and nine rebounds in the 99-89 defeat.

Clark was whistled for a technical foul for arguing a call with one of the referees. She will receive an automatic $500 fine for it.

The three-time All-Star finished the regular season tied for the most technical fouls. The referees issued her eight, along with the Phoenix Mercury’s Kahleah Copper and the Atlanta Dream’s Angel Reese.

Clark and the Fever will once again visit the Aces at Michelob Ultra Arena on Thursday. The winner will advance to the next round to face either the Minnesota Lynx or the New York Liberty, while the losing team will get eliminated. Another big performance from Indiana’s three-headed monster will be crucial in dethroning the defending champions. However, their role players, particularly the bench, have to step up to lessen the pressure on Clark, Mitchell and Boston.
