Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese (5) reacts in the fourth quarter against the Phoenix Mercury

Dave Portnoy already trolled Angel Reese after the Atlanta Dream lost in the WNBA Finals on Saturday. However, he wasn’t done and threw shade again at the 2026 Defensive Player of the Year

The Barstool Sports founder is a known Caitlin Clark fan. He has defended her multiple times during interviews and via social media posts. Portnoy has also not been shy in criticizing Reese, especially after disappointing performances. He didn’t hold back on Saturday, posting a video of her lowlights in the championship series.

Atlanta forced a Game 7 but lost 68-63 in the winner-take-all matchup. Reese finished with eight points, 12 rebounds, one assists and two blocks. While it was a decent stat line, she has shown that she can produce better numbers. Many also expected her to have a dominating performance.

Dave Portnoy disses Angel Reese for finals performance

Portnoy highlighted Reese’s finals production. He also fired a shot at her fans for making a case that she should’ve been the MVP.

“Angel Reese fans, they love to say she’s the MVP,” Portnoy said. “She’s this, she’s that. Here’s some of her stats, her last four games. Game 4: eight points, 2-of-12 (shooting). Game 5: seven points, 2-of-8. Those are both losses. Game 6, they win. She plays OK. Fifteen points, 5-of-8. Still a lot of turnovers. Turnovers, sometimes I don’t read it into because you look at turnover stats, a lot of times there’s great players on those lists. Game 7, money on the line, need Angel, eight points, 3-of-7.

“In their last three losses, she scored 23 points, 7-of -27 from the field, that’s 25%. Eight of 13 from the free throw line, 13 turnovers. You can sculpt this any way you want… But this was a disaster class for Angel Reese. You don’t have to be an Angel Reese hater to acknowledge it. She was a disaster in their losses, a total no show.”

Portnoy has shown in the past that he is not bothered when fans fire back at him. His rant may also not be the last he’ll have this offseason about Reese.
