‘Not good enough’: Ben Johnson calls out Bears offense after practice

However, the path ahead won’t be easy to navigate, especially with the league’s toughest schedule. Johnson and Co. will look to polish every detail to start the campaign strong.

Ben Johnson expresses dissatisfaction with Bears offense

Johnson was not happy with the offense’s performance during Tuesday’s practice. He addressed the media two days later, called out the unit for its mistakes and admitted that it has a lot of things to work on.

“We tell them the truth in the meetings,” Johnson said. “They take what is said in the building very seriously. We have a bunch of professionals; they want to be great, and so when it’s good, we let them know that it’s good. When it’s not good enough, we let them know.

“Two days ago, practice was not good enough as a whole team, and certainly not as an offense. When you have false starts, delay of games, dropped passes, center-quarterback exchange (issues), it’s really not a good practice. You can’t evaluate the defense, either. So we have a long way to go.”

Chicago relied heavily on Press Taylor’s group last season, which was one of the most exciting to watch across the league. The franchise added key pieces to the defense to address positional needs and plug holes. However, the offense needs to play at a high level again for the Bears to achieve their goal this year.
