Stephanie White sends personal message after move outside WNBA

Stephanie White is a big reason for the Indiana Fever’s success this season. She has guided the franchise to a huge turnaround after splitting its first 10 games. The veteran head coach also sent a special message to fans for a move outside the WNBA on Monday.

White joined the Fever on Nov. 1, 2025 after two years with the Connecticut Sun. She also played for the team in 2000 to 2004 before retiring and starting her coaching career. The 49-year-old won the WNBA Coach of the Year award in 2023.

She has been instrumental to Indiana being in fifth place in the standings with a 27-15 record. White and the Fever have secured a playoff berth. However, the two games left on their schedule will determine their final seeding.

Indiana Fever: Stephanie White delivers a strong message following off-court move

On Monday, the community honored White and Fever legend Tamika Catchings. They opened two newly-renovated courts at Tarkington Park and attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony along with current Indiana players.

“Whether it was the half court at my grandparents’ house, whether it was the blacktop courts in the various towns in my county, the pickup games in the parks in Lafayette and West Lafayette, wherever I was, I found a park and I found a game,” White said. “Courts and parks like this are where I grew as a player because of how I was challenged.

“Where I grew my confidence by having to assert myself, where I learned to fail, where I learned to get knocked down and I learned to get back again. Where people that started out as strangers became friends, where I learned the value of community and many different ways that take shape.”

White also expressed gratitude to those who made the project a reality and sent a message to the youth.

“It matters more than we can measure today,” White said. “So to everyone that made this happen, the Pacers Foundation, Rachel Simon, Purdue University, Indy Parks, Parks Alliance, Mayor Hogsett, thank you. Thank you for seeing what this community needed and for stepping up to provide it. And most importantly, to the young people. The young people who are going to fill these courts for years to come. Believe in the power of your dreams and write your own story.”

The Fever will return to action on Tuesday against the Minnesota Lynx at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Their last regular-season game is on Thursday versus the same team at Target Center.
