The Chicago Bears wanted to be aggressive at the trade deadline. They did so by landing All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons in a deal with the Tennessee Titans.
Simmons was arguably the most notable player available leading up to the deadline, evident by the fact the Bears gave up two first-round picks to acquire him. But he isn’t the only big name available. Now, the Simmons trade is expected to have a domino effect across the league, via NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
“After talking to several NFL teams and GMs over the last hour, my expectation is the trade deadline will be even crazier than anticipated,” Schultz wrote. “Chicago’s all-in move will cause other teams to react and try to be bold as well.”
“All hell is going to break loose over the next week and a half,” one of Schultz’s sources added. “Get your popcorn ready.”
The NFL trade deadline hasn’t always been a source of fireworks. But teams around the league are trying to go all-in on their Super Bowl window. The Bears joined the fun in a massive way by acquiring Simmons.

If there is going to be an avalanche of trades, Chicago is likely to remain involved. There are still holes to fix on the roster. And while the Bears no longer have a first-round pick, they still have draft capital to work with.
Los Angeles Chargers Khalil Mack has been a popular name floated to Chicago. That is partially due to his history with the team. But Mack has six quarterback hits and three sacks this season. He is still a formidable force and would be a boon for the Bears pass rush.
Chicago could also look to target help at cornerback. Jaylon Johnson has struggled mightily this season and the Bears haven’t stopped explosive plays consistently. Riq Woolen of the Philadelphia Eagles and Alontae Taylor of the Tennessee Titans are two names who have come up in rumors.
Of course, the price has to be right for the Bears to make a deal. But general manager Ryan Poles has proven he is willing to spend.
