Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams knew how difficult facing the Seattle Seahawks would be. They entered the Week 8 matchup ranked first in total defense, allowing 233.9 yards per game.

Still, Williams has had no problem finding success. Entering the fourth quarter, the Bears star has completed 22-of-31 passes 227 yards and a touchdown. He became the first quarterback to throw for 200+ yards against the Seahawks in 2026, via Jacob Infante of the Pro Football Network.

“Caleb Williams is the first QB to throw for more than 200 yards against the Seahawks this year,” Infante wrote. “He beat out the likes of Drake Maye, Brock Purdy and Patrick Mahomes.”

The fact names like the three Infante listed couldn’t hit the 200 mark is telling. Williams has been playing like one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Ultimately though, his biggest concern is earning a victory. So far, the quarterback’s performance has gotten Chicago out to a 20-9 lead.

Everything the Bears have done as a franchise has been in an effort to build around Williams. From hiring Ben Johnson as head coach to all their additions on offense, Chicago has put all of their faith into the former No. 1 overall pick.

In 2026, that plan has come to fruition. While Williams had to miss time with a hamstring strain, the quarterback entered Monday Night Football with a 3-1 record under center. He completed 71 percent of his passes for 1,020 yards, five touchdowns and an interception.

Now, Williams has put together a historic performance against the Seahawks. He’ll take the accolade, but how he and the Bears finish the game will tell the true story. Chicago is still looking to prove that they should be considered true Super Bowl contenders. But if Williams keeps playing like this, the Bears will be a difficult matchup for any opponent.
