It didn’t take long for Jeffery Simmons to make an impact with the Chicago Bears. In a 34-17 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, the All-Pro defensive tackle put up six tackles, a sack and a pass break ups.

That’s exactly why the Bears were willing to give up two first-round picks for him. They wanted a complete game changer on defense. Now, every opposing offensive coordinator must prepare for what Simmons brings to the gridiron.

The Bears’ pass rush situation has been in question for countless seasons. Most expected Chicago to add an explosive edge rusher. While they still might, the franchise now has a disruptor coming straight up the middle. The focus offensive lines must put on Simmons should open up lanes for Chicago’s current edge rushers.

The defensive tackle is now up to five sacks on the season. His first with the Bears will always remain special.

Simmons managed to completely run past the Seahawks’ offensive line. Once he got his hands on Sam Darnold, the play was over. It’ll take time for Simmons to learn all of the Bears’ defensive schemes. But his All-Pro talent does enough of the heavy lifting, via Dan Wiederer of the Athletic.

“It’s a move I feel like I’ve done perfected,” he said. “I felt an overset from the guard and just beat him inside. The quarterback was right there. So go make a play. We can overcomplicate the game of football. For me? I’ve got a one-on-one block? Make them pay.”

In Week 9, Simmons will be playing at Soldier Field as a member of the Bears for the first time. He’ll have an opportunity to fully introduce himself to the fanbase. And if he is as disruptive as he was against the Seahawks, the defensive tackle will certainly hear the roar of the crows.

Chicago believes that with Simmons, winning the Super Bowl is realistic. The Bears newest defensive star is prepared to live up to the hype.
