Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark was out of action for the Indiana Fever in their last game. The 6-foot guard was sidelined by a back injury, forcing her to sit out Indiana’s 111-87 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on June 27.

The back issue has been a season-long concern for Clark. She missed the Fever’s game against the Portland Fire on May 20 with the same injury. She has since been listed on the injury report for every game due to the nagging back issue.

Clark re-aggravated the injury on June 24 against the Phoenix Mercury. She was fouled on a three-point attempt and fell hard to the ground. The three-time WNBA All-Star tried to play through the knock, but the Fever ultimately ruled her out for the rest of the game.

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark officially out vs. Las Vegas Aces

The Fever are back in action on Sunday following a seven-day break. They will be on the road against the defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces.

Clark said on Friday during practice that she will not play against the Aces. The Fever officially confirmed the news on Saturday, announcing the 24-year-old’s final status for the game.

The good news is that Clark is looking to return for Indiana’s next game. They are scheduled for a back-to-back set on Wednesday and Thursday against the Los Angeles Sparks and the Mercury, respectively. According to Clark, she is aiming to return for those matchups.

It is important to note that the Aces will be without reigning MVP A’ja Wilson, who is out with a right lower-leg injury. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year will miss a second consecutive game for Las Vegas with this issue.

The Fever enter Sunday’s matchup with an 11-8 record. It will be a tough test for them on the road against the 15-5 Aces, who are currently tied for the best record in the WNBA.
