Bears QB Caleb Williams refuses to engage on Packers rivalry

Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears’ rivalry with the Green Bay Packers is one of the fiercest in the NFL. They faced each other thrice last season, with the star quarterback and his teammates having the last laugh. They eliminated their NFC North rivals in the Wild Card Round. However, Williams dodged the question when asked about which franchise has the upper hand.

The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner is coming off a strong 2025 campaign and continues to receive praise for it. He led Chicago to win its division with an 11-6 record. Williams also played an instrumental role in the team reaching the Divisional Round before they lost 20-17 in overtime to the Los Angeles Rams. He has set his sights on surpassing his 330-of-568 completions for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Another impressive campaign will continue to silence his critics and turn more doubters into believers.

Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams doesn’t answer Packers rivalry question directly

Reporters asked Williams for his thoughts on who he thinks is in the driver’s seat in the storied rivalry. However, he didn’t answer it directly and instead discussed his mindset for every game.

“Typically, I like to be in the driver’s seat, that’s how I feel about things just mindset wise,” Williams said. “I go into every game with the mindset that I already won, that helps get to the end and confirm it. It’s just something I do, the driver’s seat thing is something I do and that’s something I like to bring to the team, bringing that mindset into big games, bringing that mindset when people overlook the opponent, and bringing that mindset into the big rivalries.”

The Bears and Packers will meet in Week 5 of the 2026 season on Oct.11.Williams and Co. will visit Lambeau Field with the home crowd looking to make them feel unwelcomed. However, the teams could also cross paths once again in the postseason. It would give Chicago a chance to prove that last season’s victory isn’t a fluke
