“You have perverted the innocents.” Warner Bros Clockwork has revealed the incredible full official trailer for Ken Russell’s The Devils restored & uncut & ready to rock the screen again. This is Clockwork’s first official release, a restoration of a controversial, one-of-a-kind, 1970s masterpiece that has been hidden from view for decades. It showed at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and plays at Stiges & TIFF, too. Ken Russell’s The Devils is the definitive vision based on the edit he privately constructed in 2004. In the film set in 17th-century France, Father Grandier’s protection of the city of Loudun from the corrupt Cardinal Richelieu is ruined by a sexually repressed nun’s accusation of witchcraft. Vanessa Redgrave stars as Sister Jeanne, with Oliver Reed as Father Grandier and Gemma Jones as Madeleine. The Picture & Sound restoration was performed by Warner Bros. Post Production Creative Services, Water Tower Color, and Warner Bros. Sound based on the original negatives. This is a major, monumental re-release that any and every cinephile should be interested in when it hits theaters later this year. Clockwork is even proud to announce that it has received the rare NC-17 rating from the MPA but will still play in theaters (briefly) this fall. What a radical trailer! Just as wild and crazy and unforgettable as the film itself. Do not miss it when you have the chance. // Continue Reading ›
