Chicago Bull forward Caleb Wilson suddenly emerges as Rookie of the Year favorite

The Chicago Bulls are just a few weeks away from beginning their 2026-27 campaign. Media day is set for September 28th where we will find out the organization’s goals for the upcoming season.
Expectations aren’t the highest they’ve been, but after an offseason full of changes, the playoffs are well within sight in a weak Eastern Conference. New head coach Tiago Splitter will look to lead this young roster back to the postseason.
The most exciting part of this new season will be the addition of rookie forward Caleb Wilson.
Wilson was drafted fourth overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, after a strong freshman year at the University of North Carolina. His season was unfortunately cut short due to injury, but he still managed to get drafted in the top five.
The young forward was just seen working out with LeBron James prior to his rookie season, which struck a nerve with some Bulls fans. Nonetheless, working out with one of the greatest basketball players of all time will surely benefit Wilson.
Today, it was revealed that Wilson is now the favorite for the NBA’s Rookie of the Year, per the trading site Polymarket.

If he stays healthy, Caleb Wilson will definitely be in the talks for Rookie of the Year. It was a loaded draft class, so he’ll need to produce at a high level to beat out the rest of the field.
He shouldn’t be short of opportunity on this roster.

In addition to Wilson, the Bulls also selected Dailyn Swain 15th overall. Swain is a 6’7 wing out of Texas who could provide a scoring punch off the bench if given the opportunity.
He averaged 17.3 points per game in 2026, along with 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Even with all the focus being on Wilson, fans shouldn’t forget about Swain and his development.
Even if the Bulls have another tough year, it’s safe to say that exciting basketball will be played in Chicago once again.

Wilson is a high-flyer with potential for some big-time poster dunks in his rookie season.
He’ll need to work on his jump shot in the NBA, as that was the one knock on him coming out of college. He shot 26% from three in his lone collegiate season, a number that the Bulls will certainly need him to improve on.
Luckily, the 20-year-old will have plenty of time to do so. Even with the addition of guys like Norman Powell and Nic Claxton, this is still a rebuild. Even in a weak Eastern Conference, the Bulls will need to exceed expectations to make a playoff push.
