Chicago Bears: Bad news on Caleb Williams for Eagles ‘MNF’ Game

The Chicago Bears revealed some hopeful news for their quarterback situation before playing the Philadelphia Eagles on “Monday Night Football” for Week 3.

However, the update for Caleb Williams was not good on Saturday. He suffered a hamstring strain in the Bears’ 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2. Bagent appeared to suffer his injury on the final drive.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson told reporters that Tyson Bagent returned to practice for the first time this week on Saturday. He remains in the concussion protocol, though there is hope he will get the start against the Eagles on Monday night.

Bad news: Chicago Bears rule Caleb Williams out

Per the final injury report released on Saturday, the Bears ruled Bagent as questionable to play against Philadelphia. The Bears had bad news for Williams, ruling him out against the Eagles. Linebacker Noah Sewell and defensive lineman Shemar Turner were ruled out for Monday night.

No other players have a designation for Week 3.

If Bagent cannot go, Case Keenum will get the start against the Eagles. Undrafted rookie Miller Moss would be in line to be the backup quarterback.

Earlier this week, Johnson told reporters that it was hard to keep Williams back this week, and the quarterback has been doing what he can to help prepare the Bears for Philadelphia.

“He’s still being a great supporter in the quarterback room, in walkthrough right now. Making sure he’s contributing ideas for what we want to get done,” Johnson said. “It’s one of those things, you know, he’s an antsy individual; he’s a competitor, wants to be on the grass going full speed…

“It’s a little more challenging to hold a guy back like that, but if you can build a player, that’s what you want him to be like.”

For the Bears, they’ll have a huge challenge to beat the Eagles without Williams, and potentially, Bagent.
