Bryson Graham makes it clear Chicago Bulls are in a rebuild

The Chicago Bulls aren’t shying away from what this 2026-27 NBA season is for the franchise. It’s a rebuild.

New Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Bryson Graham admitted that during his first media day in charge for the franchise on Monday afternoon in Chicago. He didn’t want to shy away or dance away from that word and it’s refreshing.

The Bulls opted to clean house this past offseason after another failure of a season, moving on from front office members as well as head coach Billy Donovan. They turned a new page for the franchise using this offseason as the first step in the rebuild process.  And Graham believes this rebuild can be ‘exciting’ for the franchise moving forward.

The Bulls haven’t won a playoff series since 2017, creating years of misery for the franchise. So when they decided to clean house this offseason, it was welcomed with open arms by fans. With a team in a rebuild, it may also turn fans off as they don’t want to endure another long rebuild. But Graham is confident in this and hopes it can be exciting right away.

“We are rebuilding,” Graham said on Monday. “Just because the word rebuild is out there doesn’t mean this can’t be fun, this can’t be exciting.”

He’s not wrong.

The Bulls took UNC forward Caleb Wilson at No. 4 overall in the 2026 NBA Draft. The excitement from the pick has lingered all offseason as the franchise believes they have a superstar already. The anticipation for Wilson’s first game is still at a high and like Graham said, it should be exciting when they first hit the court in a few weeks.

But they also need to make sure the rebuild is on the right path. If things go south in a hurry, it could turn less exciting. And that’s something they don’t want happening again.
