The Indiana Fever saw their season ended early on Thursday at the hands of the Las Vegas Aces. They forced a winner-take-all Game 3 but lost 94-83 at Michelob ULTRA Arena. However, general manager Amber Cox still had a lot of praise for Caitlin Clark.
The superstar guard struggled from the field, converting just 6-of-18 attempts. She was still able to finish with a solid stat line of 18 points, four assists and three three-pointers. Kelsey Mitchell led the way with 23 points and two rebounds, but she was also inefficient from the field, shooting 7-of-23. Aliyah Boston added 19 points,10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
Indiana entered the season as one of the title favorites. The team ended the regular season with a 28-16 record but only secured the No. 6 seed and had to face the defending champions.

Cox addressed the media on Saturday. She highlighted Clark’s impact to women’s basketball and wants many to give her the credit she deserves.
“The other piece about Caitlin that I never want to take for granted is just what she has meant to our team, what she has meant to the league and what she’s meant to women’s basketball,” Cox said. “She remains the tipping point. you look at the ratings and you look at the full buildings, that started in 2024 when she came into the league. That is because of Caitlin Clark. And that does not take anything away from anybody who’s come before her or still playing or has worked in the league. I’m one of those people. I’ve been here 16 years. The build was slow.
“A right Caitlin Clark arrived and the floodgates opened. So many people have been exposed to our game and our league because of her and have fallen in love with our league and other players around this league because of her. She deserves her flowers. We need to say it more often and I’m going to say it every time you put a mic in front of my face: Thank you to Caitlin Clark.”

The front office executive and the Fever’s brass have big decisions to make. Mitchell is set to become an unrestricted free agent but has expressed her desire to remain with the franchise. Their moves in the offseason could set the stage for a huge bounce back 2027 season.
