Sophie Cunningham has established herself as one of the most vocal players in the WNBA today. She is not shy to speak her mind about different topics surrounding the league. The Indiana Fever star issued a WNBA warning on Monday.
She is coming off an up-and-down campaign. Cunningham started the season with the starting unit and was moved to the bench for her offensive firepower. She produced some strong performances but struggled with consistency. However, the 30-year-old was able to showcase her hustle and knock down timely baskets.
The Fever qualified for the playoffs as the No. 6 seed and faced the Las Vegas Aces in the first round. They pushed the series to a deciding Game 3 on Oct. 1 before losing 94-83. Cunningham averaged 7.9 points on 46.0% shooting, along with 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 43 games.

Cunningham issued a warning to men with zero athletic success who think they can dominate in the WNBA. She stressed that they don’t have the skills to thrive in the league.
“I had an Uber driver and like I’m under, it’s not under my name,” Cunningham said. “And then once I got in, he’s like, ‘Oh,’ and I was like, ‘What’s up?’ And he’s like, ‘I would break your angles, I would.’ I’m like, ‘OK.’ I don’t know why… There is no way in hell that you were going to be doing any of that. Like you can just tell by the like the form of them running and like the way they have the the way they dribble.”
Sophie Cunningham questions why men with ZERO ATHLETIC SUCCESS confidently believe they could easily dominate in the WNBA.
Sophie Cunningham: “I had an Uber driver and like I’m under, it’s not under my name. And then once I got in, he’s like, ‘Oh,’ and I was like, ‘What’s up?’ And he’s like, ‘I would break your angles, I would da.’ I’m like, ‘Okay, like, yeah, like, I don’t know why.’”
Drew Hanlen: “We’re in an NBA kind of facility and it’ll be the most unathletic person, and we’ll go up to them jokingly and we’ll be like, ‘Yo, if you played in the W, what would you do?’ ‘Man, I’d be the MVP. I’d average 30 and 20.’”

The veteran guard enters unrestricted free agency and with her future in Indiana up in the air. She will likely receive interest from teams around the league for her experience and grit. However, she can also re-sign with the Fever if they extend an offer this offseason.
