The Chicago Bears massively bolster their pass rush when they acquired Jeffery Simmons in a trade with the Tennessee Titans. But the franchise is still eyeing adding some extra pressure coming from the edge.
Montez Sweat, Austin Booker and Dayo Odeyingbo have all stepped up in 2026. Sweat leads the team with seven quarterback hits (three sacks) while Booker is tied for the team lead with four sacks (six quarterback hits). Odeyingbo is currently on injured reserve with a quad injury. But prior to going down, he had three sacks and three quarterback hits.
Outside of that trio, the Bears have gotten strong contributions from players like Daniel Hardy and James Lynch. Chicago’s 22 total sacks rank fifth-highest entering 2026. That’s far better than many expected entering the 2026 campaign.
Still, the Bears have their sights set on winning a Super Bowl. Adding even more firepower to their pass rush would only make Chicago a scarier contender.

At 1-6, the Miami Dolphins will enter the trade deadline as clear sellers. With Josh Uche set to be a free agent after the season, the defensive end has become a rising name in trade rumors. Seth Walder of ESPN argues the Bears should be the ones to acquire him.
“Dolphins edge Josh Uche,” Walder wrote. “The Bears already paid a ton to bring in Simmons, so I assume they’ll be seeking bargains for the rest of deadline season. But they still could use some help at edge, and Uche could contribute to that rotation alongside Montez Sweat, Austin Booker and Daniel Hardy. This season, Uche has recorded a pass rush win rate that ranks in the 60th percentile and a pressure rate in the 35th percentile at edge.”
Through his first seven games in 2026, Uche put up 29 tackles, five quarterback hits and two sacks. His 75.4 grade from Pro Football Focus ranks 23/111 edge rushers. Over his entire seven-year NFL career, the pass rusher has put up 138 tackles, 42 quarterback hits and 23.5 sacks.
The Bears have been consistently linked to Khalil Mack leading into the trade deadline. But he isn’t the only standout push rush available. If the Dolphins do decide to sell, Chicago could cash in with Uche.
