Must-see: Caitlin Clark drops opponent before hitting uncontested triple

Caitlin Clark electrified the home crowd at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday. The Indiana Fever superstar guard once again showcased her unlimited range and also assisted her teammates for easy baskets. Her strong performance featured a spin move that left her defender on the ground before she knocked down an uncontested triple.

Clark finished with 22 points, four rebounds and 10 assists in the 106-92 win over the New York Liberty. The victory improved Indiana’s record to 21-12 for the season and pushed the team to fourth in the standings. Kelsey Mitchell continued her high-scoring ways, recording a game-high 28 points. She achieved her 17th consecutive game with 20-plus points.

The Liberty, on the other hand, saw Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart lead with 19 points each. Jonquel Jones supported them with a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Caitlin Clark drops defender during opening play of Fever-Liberty game

Clark didn’t waste time firing up fans at the venue. During the opening play, she spun around her defender and dropped her to the floor. She proceeded to the three-point line to convert a wide-open three-pointer.

The three-time All-Star showed off her efficiency by making 7-of-15 shots, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. Her double-double performance also increased her total, now six clear of the Phoenix Mercury for most 20-point, 10-assist games.

She and Fever are looking to string more wins together as they battle for playoff positioning, which is heating up. Clark also continues to deal with a lingering back issue but is playing through it. She has received probable tags on the injury reports; however, she last missed a game on July 9.

The Fever will return to action on Thursday against the Dallas Wings. It’s the second of their two-game homestand before embarking on a four-game road trip. The away games include a matchup versus the Atlanta Dream and the Chicago Sky.
