Chicago Sky rival and Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) talks to Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell (0) during the first half during game two of the first round of the 2024 WNBA Playoffs at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell are arguably two of the Indiana Fever’s most important players. They often lead the team in scoring, giving opposing teams a nightmare backcourt matchup. The WNBA also announced that the dynamic duo made history during Tuesday’s 101-95 win over the Toronto Tempo.

Mitchell scored a game-high 29 points along with three rebounds and four three-pointers. Clark backed her with 24 points, three rebounds and seven assists. Their strong performances paved the way for Indiana to secure its fifth consecutive victory.

The Las Vegas Aces lost to the Atlanta Dream on the same night. It pushed the Fever to solo third in the standings with eight games left on their schedule.

The WNBA announced that Clark and Mitchell set a new league mark. They now have the most games in a season scoring 20-plus points each. The duo tied Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter’s record of 15 in 2008 during the Fever’s win versus Atlanta on Sunday.

Indiana still has eight games left on its regular-season schedule. Clark and Mitchell have a chance to build on their total, especially given their recent form. The 2024 No. 1 pick already has 11 double-doubles this year and is averaging 22.0 points per game. Mitchell on the other hand, tied A’ja Wilson’s record for consecutive 20-plus point regular season matchups with 20. She is averaging 24.2 points for the campaign.

Clark, Mitchell and Co. will continue their five-game road trip on Thursday against the Dallas Wings. They will then face the New York Liberty two days later before a fixture versus the Chicago Sky. Indiana will play three of its last five games at home, giving Clark and Mitchell an even better chance to extend their record. Ending the regular-season strong is crucial, giving them more momentum in the playoffs.
