Fever star Caitlin Clark makes WNBA history in Game 2

Caitlin Clark has broken several WNBA records this season, and she made league history again in Game 2 on Tuesday. The Indiana Fever superstar delivered another impressive performance to lead the team to a 99-89 win over the Las Vegas Aces. More importantly, they avoided elimination and have a chance to advance to the next round with a Game 3 victory.

Clark amassed 27 points on 9-of-18 shooting, seven rebounds, five three-pointers and a playoff career-high 15 assists. Kelsey Michell supplied 26 points, while Aliyah Boston added 22 points four rebounds and five assists. Indiana converted 37-of-71 field goal attempts, feeding off of the energy of its home fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Indiana Fever: Caitlin Clark sets new WNBA playoff mark after Game 2 win

Clark tied the most points scored and assisted in a game in WNBA playoff history. She dominated the Las Vegas defense by knocking down shots across the floor and set up her teammates for easy baskets. The development was posted on X.

“Between her own baskets and assists, she was directly responsible for 24 of the Fever’s 37 field goals and 58 points, which is tied for the most points created in a playoff game,” CBS Sports’ Jack Maloney wrote. “Her 15 assists also tied for the third-most in a playoff game in WNBA history. ”

Indiana finished the regular season with a 28-16 record and secured the No. 6 seed. The team lost two of its last three games and faced a tough first-round clash with the defending champions. Clark and Co. suffered a 102-85 loss in Game 1, with A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray leading the No. 3-seeded team’s charge.

However, the Fever showed that they moved past it quickly and stayed alive in the playoffs. They are in position to pull off the upset on Thursday but will need to win on the road at Michelob Ultra Arena. The Aces expect to start the game strong, but Clark and her teammates are ready for the challenge and prove that they are legitimate title contenders.
