Tyson Bagent missed the Chicago Bears’ Week 3 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. He dealt with concussion symptoms, paving the way for Case Keenum to take over under center. Caleb Williams, the team’s starter, sustained a hamstring injury in Week 2 and also sat out the “Monday Night Football” game. Bagent could’ve started but Keenum played well, helping the team win 27-7. The 26-year-old made his opinion about the veteran quarterback clear amid their QB1 battle.
Bagent entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He has rarely seen action during actual games but has earned his spot with his value during practices. The Shepherd product is also ready whenever his name is called.
Keenum, on the other hand, started his first game since 2023. He impressed by completing 24-of-34 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns. Both backups practiced on Thursday and Chicago has not yet announced who its QB1 will be in Week 4.

Reporters asked Bagent on Thursday to share his thoughts about Keenum’s game. He emphasized that he supports his veteran teammate and that he learned a lot from watching him on the field.
“I’d like to think about it in the sense of there’s a couple ways to think about it,” Bagent said. “Obviously, I would like everything that the football world can offer me. But then there’s also the part that I am from Shepherd University. So I have absolutely zero ego in this and nobody’s a bigger cheerleader and a fan of Case Keenum than I am. I think he is the epitome of what I believe a quarterback is and is supposed to be. It was fun to watch him play.”

Bears head coach Ben Johnson and his staff have a big decision to make. However, it’s a good problem as having both Bagent and Keenum available gives them more options. Chicago will host the New York Jets on Sunday at Soldier Field.
