After allowing 37 points in Week 1, the sky seemed like it was crashing down for the Chicago Bears. But the franchise has rebounded well, allowing fewer than 10 in each of their last two games.
New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has taken notice. At 1-2. he’ll be looking to change the narrative and lead his franchise to victory. But Smith knows that won’t be an easy task.
On the flip side, the Bears can’t underestimate the Jets starting quarterback. Through the first three weeks, Smith has completed a league-leading 75.5 percent of his passes for 783 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. New York as a unit enters Week 4 ranked 13th in total offense, averaging 329 yards a game.
Smith has done his scouting report on the Bears. He is expecting a fierce matchup come Sunday.

When Smith looks at Chicago’s defense, he’ll notice his opponents haven’t stopped forcing turnovers. After leading the league in 2025, the Bears already have six takeaways in 2026, tied for third-most.
On all thee levels, Smith acknowledges Chicago has the talent necessary to give the Jets fits, via New York’s X, formerly Twitter account.
“They have some proven guys up front,” Smith said. “Starts with Grady Jarrett and Montez Sweat. Playing making linebackers, TJ Edwards Devin Bush, guys who can fly around and make plays on the ball. Some proven guys on the back end as well. Got a young rookie out there who is playing well. We got to be prepared and ready for this opponent. Focus in, lock in. Go out there and put on a show.”

With their improvements over the last two weeks, Chicago entered Week 4 ranked 15th in total defense, allowing 324 YPG. While the Bears surely want to improve on the mark, it’s much higher than many expected entering the season.
As the franchise tries to get a winning streak going, they must go through Smith and the Jets. Like the quarterback facing them, the Bears must be prepared to put up a fight.
