The WNBA offseason allows players to play in Unrivaled or in other countries. One of them is DiJonai Carrington, and news about the former Chicago Sky guard was announced on Wednesday.

She is coming off a short but solid year with the team. Carrington returned to action in July after missing extended time due to a foot injury she suffered in the previous season. The veteran guard appeared in 11 games, averaging 8.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 16.2 minutes.

Carrington is now an unrestricted free agent as her one-year, $650,000 contract expired as the campaign concluded. She signed with the Sky last April. The 28-year-old entered the WNBA as the No. 20 overall pick in the second round in 2021 by the Connecticut Sun. She suited up for them until 2024 before bouncing between the Dallas Wings, Minnesota Lynx and Chicago.

Ex-Sky guard DiJonai Carrington’s Unrivaled team revealed

Unrivaled revealed its rosters for its 2027 season on Wednesday. Carrington will be part of Breeze BC, along with Paige Bueckers, Kahleah Copper, Dominique Malonga, Kaitlyn Cheng and Monique Billings.

“Young and Turnt with some new additions 👀 @breezebasketballclub,” Unrivaled Basketball wrote.

Breeze BC is one of two expansion teams, growing the list of participating squads to eight. The roster is balanced with young talent and veterans who can play different positions. It also has a good mix of guards and post players, giving the team a solid chance of making a lot of noise.

Meanwhile, Carrington will likely receive interest from some WNBA teams in the offseason. She has a lot of experience under her belt and has shown the ability to thrive on both ends of the floor. The former Baylor star can also play at shooting guard and small forward depending on matchups, making her an even more valuable asset.
