The Chicago Bears offense is filled with burgeoning superstars, led by quarterback Caleb Williams. In terms of pass catchers, players like Rome Odunze, Luther Burden and Colston Loveland are the first names that will pop up.
However, veteran Kalif Raymond has found a way to crave out a pivotal role in Chicago. After signing a one-year deal in free agency, the wide receiver has been everything head coach Ben Johnson and the Bears had been hoping for.
Through the first eight games of the season, Raymond has caught 28 passes for 258 yards and a touchdowns. His potential was on full display with a 39 run on third down against the Seattle Seahawks.

Raymond may not light up the box score every game. But he has become a trusted target for Williams and a pillar of what the Bears are building.

Raymond and Johnson go back to their time on the Detroit Lions together. The head coach was a prime reason the wide receiver wanted to come to Chicago. Now fully acclimated to the Bears, Raymond has become a true leader in Chicago’s wide receiver room, via CHGO.
“They all feed off of him,” Johnson said. “We’ve got guys in every position room right now that are really the epitome of what you want it to look like. He leads that charge. Selfless player, hardest worker. I can’t say enough good things about him and his impact.”
“Whether they’re production based or not,” the head coach continued. “He elevates everybody. In the offense, receiver room and really on the team as well. I can’t say enough good things about him.”

Upon Johnson’s arrival, the Bears’ play on the field needed to be improved obviously. But Chicago also needed to invest in a winning culture. The franchise hadn’t won a playoff game since 2010 prior to 2025. A new era, one committed to improvement, needed to spawn.
While Johnson has been the catalyst, veterans like Raymond have helped push forward Chicago’s winning culture. He has fully bought in on what the Bears are building and is willing to do whatever it takes to succeed. Sometimes, that requires being a guiding light for the other players in your position room. Something Johnson notes Raymond does regularly.
