Chicago Bulls make surprise decision with No 15 draft pick

There was no drama for the Chicago Bulls with the No. 4 pick.

As was expected, AJ Dybansta, Darryn Peterson, and Cameron Boozer went off the board one, two, and three. With the No. 4 pick, the Bulls took forward Caleb Wilson out of North Carolina. He has the potential to be better than the three players taken above him in the draft, but will come to Chicago less polished and in need of development.

The Bulls had two first-round picks this season. Chicago was expected to go with a guard with the No. 15 selection.

Once again, there was no surprise about the position. Chicago took a guard, but the name was a surprise. The Bulls took Dailyn Swain out of Texas.

Per ESPN’s Jeremy Woo, Swain comes to the Bulls needing to improve his shooting.

“Swain looks the part as a two-way NBA wing, but he is still a bit of a rough sketch,” Woo wrote. “He showed improved assertiveness after transferring to Texas last season and showed he can handle more offensive responsibility. Continuing to improve his shooting will be critical for his chances of finding a niche.”

The six-foot-eight, 220-pound guard averaged 17.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game at Texas last season. Swain, 20, spent two seasons at Xavier before transferring to Texas.

Swain will be an asset for the Bulls on defense. He does a good job of getting to the rim. Still, this is a raw prospect for Chicago, but that’s to be expected in the middle of the first round.
