The Chicago Bears put all their eggs in the Caleb Williams basket when they selected him No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. For a franchise that last tasted Super Bowl glory in 1986, using their top pick on Williams — despite all that he had achieved in college at Oklahoma and USC — posed a significant risk.
The fear started to creep in amid Williams’ rookie campaign. He wasn’t bad, but questions began to arise about whether he was capable of being the franchise’s cornerstone quarterback.
Williams erased all the doubt in his second season. He took his game to another level, proving that he is among the best young quarterbacks in the league.
Williams led the Bears to an 11-6 record for their first NFC North title in seven years. They also made it all the way to the Divisional Round in the NFL Playoffs.

Williams has emerged as a household name among the Bears faithful. The city has fallen in love with its star quarterback, who himself has now established an unwavering loyalty to the city.
The 24-year-old recently declared his love for Chicago on social media. He shared a post from the Chicago Bulls that featured the breathtaking Chicago skyline. Williams needed just one word to express how he feels about The Windy City.
“CRIB,” he wrote.

Williams was born and raised in Washington, D.C. However, despite living in Chicago for just two years, he already considers the city his home.
The word “crib” is slang for house or one’s place of residence. The term carries more weight for Williams, though, in terms of his relationship to Chicago. It is no longer just a temporary stop in his journey. Chicago has become his sanctuary.
Williams’ goal is to repay the city’s love and hospitality. He can do just that by leading the Bears to glory.
