Former Indiana Fever player turns heads after Chicago Sky decision

Chloe Bibby’s WNBA journey continues. This is after the Chicago Sky announced the signing of the 6-foot-2 forward on Tuesday. Bibby joins the Sky after suiting up with the Indiana Fever last season.

Bibby, 28, made her WNBA debut last season with the Golden State Valkyries. However, she was waived midseason after 14 games.

She landed with the Fever on an initial seven-day contract. She eventually signed a deal for the rest of the season amid Indiana’s injury crisis last season.

Unfortunately, Bibby also suffered a season-ending left knee injury in August. She joined Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham and two other Fever players who were also shut down for the season due to injury.

In nine games with Indiana, the Australian averaged 3.9 points and 1.2 rebounds in 9.8 minutes per contest.

Bibby officially parted ways with the Fever when the Portland Fire selected her 11th overall in the 2026 WNBA Expansion Draft. The Fire, however, decided to trade her to the Phoenix Mercury in May in exchange for Julia Ayrault. The Mercury, in turn, waived Bibby two days later.

Bibby has since been looking for a new team in free agency. She finally got this done by securing a developmental contract with the Sky.

The Sky announced the news via an Instagram post on Tuesday.

“we have officially signed Chloe Bibby to a developmental contract,” the team wrote.

Bibby quickly drew fans’ attention with her decision to join the Sky.

“Welcome to Chicago @chloe_bibby !! ” a comment on Instagram read.

“Hmmmm , nice pick up . ” another said.

“Super excited for this pick up!!!” a user wrote.

“Terrific news, but still hoping to get Rickea back post injury,” a reaction read.

“Yup I’m at the game,” declared a fan.

“From fever to Chicago interesting,” said. another.

WNBA teams are allowed to carry two developmental contracts this season outside their 12-player active roster. These contracts also do not count against their salary cap. Teams may activate developmental players for up to 12 regular-season games.
