The Chicago White Sox improved to 53-46 on the season with their 10-3 victory over the Texas Rangers on Monday night. Unfortunately, though, they also suffered a devastating loss.
Catcher Kyle Teel was injured early in the contest as he attempted to dive across home plate to apply a tag. He was removed from the game, of course, in a development that continues an unfortunate trend for the young catcher in 2026.

On Tuesday afternoon, it was reported that Teel suffered a sprained ankle. As a result, the White Sox are placing him on the 10-day injured list. They also have recalled Edgar Quero from Triple-A:
Prior to tonight’s game at the Texas Rangers, the Chicago White Sox placed catcher Kyle Teel on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle sprain and recalled catcher Edgar Quero from Class AAA Charlotte.

This is just the latest in line of frustrating injuries for Chicago’s young catcher. He was initially injured during the World Baseball Classic, suffering a strained hamstring. While on rehab assignment for that injury, he sprained his knee, which delayed his 2026 debut even further.
Teel has only appeared in 19 games for the White Sox this season. What is more, he has not been very productive either. In that time, he is itting just .190/.271/.317 with two home runs and 14 RBI.
Quero has not been much better while filling in for Teel this season. He is hitting .187/.253/.233 with two home runs and 15 RBI in 55 games played at the Major League level.
In 15 games down in Triple-A, Quero was hitting just .230/.295/.295 with a home run and six RBI.
