Caleb Williams makes his opinion of Bears WR Luther Burden III very clear

Caleb Williams and Luther Burden III formed a strong bond on and off the field last season. The then-rookie wide receiver was instrumental to the quarterback’s impressive campaign.

Burden emerged as one of Williams’ most reliable targets, recording 47 receptions for 652 yards and two touchdowns. He added six rushing attempts for 37 yards, along with 223 yards from eight kick returns. The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, on the other hand, completed 330-of-568 passes for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Chicago will once again rely heavily on the duo to help guide the team to a deeper playoff run in 2026. The team reached the Divisional Round last year but lost 20-17 to the Los Angeles Rams in overtime.

Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams praises Luther Burden III’s skill set

Williams has nothing but good words to say about Burden’s game. He highlighted his ability to catch tough passes and how he dukes defenders on the move.

“He makes the first guy miss every time,” Williams said on the “Up & Adams Show.” “That’s his trait. He catches everything, the easy and hard passes. He’s a friendly receiver, his route running and things like that. When you get the ball in his hands, he makes that first player miss quite often.”

The Bears drafted the wideout at No. 39 overall in the second round last year. He enjoyed a successful collegiate career with the Missouri Tigers, earning first-team All-SEC honors in 2023 and 2024. Burden helped the program reach three Bowl games during his tenure.

Burden’s route running will be key to Chicago’s success in the upcoming campaign. He will also likely be tasked to return more kicks given his production last season. With DJ Moore now with the Buffalo Bills, the 22-year-old has a chance to play more opposite Rome Odunze and contribute even better numbers.
