Bears QB Caleb Williams leaves no doubt on his opinion of coach Ben Johnson

Ben Johnson is still receiving praise for how he guided the Chicago Bears to a lot of success in 2025. Caleb Williams also gave him his flowers, expressing his full belief in him.

Johnson was instrumental in Chicago winning the NFC North with an 11-6 record. The team also reached the Divisional Round before losing 20-17 in overtime to the Los Angeles Rams. He brought the best out of the star quarterback, who completed 330-of-568 passes for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Johnson, Williams and the Bears aim to surpass their achievements last season. However, they are facing the league’s toughest schedule, but with a bolstered roster, the goal is not impossible to reach.

Caleb Williams showers Bears HC ben Johnson with praise

Williams had nothing but praise for Johnson during his media availability on Tuesday. He compared him to a teacher who believes in him and stressed that he wants to repay his head coach’s trust.

“It’s the teacher that you stick with for a long time, or that sticks with you for a long time,” Williams said. “One, because you believe in him, and and two, because you know he believes in you.

“That’s aside from all the stuff that he does special with you, being able to adapt to his personnel, being able to adapt to his players and the schedule and things like that. Helping us, It’s something that you rarely find and something that you want to be around and stick around (with). He’s the right guy and we’re excited for him and we’re excited to be coached by him.”

Having mutual trust between a head coach and a team’s QB1 is a essential part of a championship equation. Not all coach-QB duos share what Williams and Johnson have, and their strong bond should translate on the field. Chicago will begin their 2026 regular season on Sept. 13 with a road game against the Carolina Panthers.
