The Chicago Bears expect Soldier Field to be rocking on Sunday for their Week 4 matchup against the New York Jets. Momentum has just shifted back in the team’s favor following their Monday Night Football win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
After years of being in the cellar, the Bears have emerged as true playoff contenders. Fans will always get loud for their team, especially in Chicago. But the decibel levels will increase with those fans knowing real implications are on the line.
The Bears will use the noise in their favor. It’s called home field advantage for a reason right? But at least when Chicago’s offense is on the field, tight end Cole Kmet has made a clear request to those at Soldier Field in Week 4.

When the Jets are on third down, Bears fans should get their loudest, trying to throw New York off rhythm. But when Chicago has the ball, Kmet wants a bit of silence. The Bears have to communicate throughout the play and make sure they’re all on the same page, via Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times.
“P.S.A to the fans: They need to be quiet when we’re on offense,” Kmet said. “It is ridiculous. It’s insane. I appreciate the energy, but take note from Minnesota how quiet it is when their guys are on offense.”
“I mean, I love the enthusiasm,” he continued. “You can be as loud as you want on defense. It’s just that we’re trying to communicate and get off on the cadence and it’s hard to do that when the fans screaming on third-and-short. But it’s all good. I appreciate it.”
The Bears may have a new quarterback under center if Tyson Bagent earns the start. Even if it’s Case Keenum, Chicago will have a backup in place. Communication will become pivotal as the offense line as pass throwers mesh with their new leader.
Kmet still wants Soldier Field loud, as that’ll mean the Bears are succeeding. But when it’s time for Chicago to cook on offense, he’s looking for a bit of leeway to operate.
