The Chicago Bears are busy preparing for their “Monday Night Football” showdown with the Seattle Seahawks. However, the coaching staff won’t be complete when they travel to Lumen Field. Prayers poured in following the team’s announcement of an unfortunate news about linebackers coach Richard Smith.
Chicago is on a two-game winning streak, including last week’s 30-24 win over the New England Patriots. Caleb Williams has led the Bears to back-to-back victories after missing the previous three games due to a hamstring injury. He completed 22-of-33 passes for 308 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in Week 7.
The team made headlines as they traded for former Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. He is a four-time Pro Bowler and is coming off a first-team All-Pro selection last year. The 29-year-old’s arrival will be a huge boost the the defense which many consider is the team’s weak spot.

The Bears announced that Smith won’t join them for the MNF matchup. He will remain in Chicago due to health reasons, although the team didn’t reveal the full details.
“COACHING UPDATE: The Bears announced that LBs coach Richard Smith will not travel to Seattle and coach Monday night’s game against the Seahawks due to health reasons, per @chicagobears. Assistant linebackers Coach Kevin Koch will take over those duties vs the Seahawks. Sending prayers for Richard Smith. Hopefully it’s nothing super serious.
