Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese (5) reacts against the LA Sparks

Angel Reese received a lot of praise for helping lead the Atlanta Dream to the WNBA Finals. However, she has also been criticized and poked fun at for her subpar performances in the championship series. One of them was NBA rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, who trolled the star forward after their 68-63 Game 7 loss on Saturday.

She recorded eight points on 3-of-7 shooting, with 12 rebounds, one assist and two blocks. Jordin Canada powered the No. 4-seeded team with 18 points, four rebounds and five assists, while Allisha Gray chipped in 16 points and six rebounds. However, no other Atlanta player scored in double digits. It was also Reese’s third game in the series with eight or less points.

Golden State, on the other hand, was led by Gabby Williams. The Finals MVP finished with a game-high 30 points built on four three-pointers, along with three rebounds, two assists and four blocks. She scored 28 points in the second half.

Yaxel Lendeborg clowns Angel Reese with her Game 3 gesture

Lendeborg sat courtside with his Golden State Warriors teammate, Draymond Green. They were part of the sold out Chase Center crowd to cheer for the home team. The rookie forward was captured on camera mimicking Reese’s “too small” gesture in Game 3.

The three-time All-Star dominated Game 3 with 21 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals. Atlanta took a 2-1 series lead and stole homecourt advantage, appearing to be in complete control of the finals. However, the team lost back-to-back games before winning Game 6 to force a winner-take-all matchup.

It was the Dream’s first trip to the finals since 2013. Reese and Co. will likely enter the 2027 season hungrier, especially after experiencing heartbreak to end their promising year. It was still a standout campaign for Reese as she earned Defensive Player of the Year honors and broke several league records.
