Cameras catch Caitlin Clark’s behavior after Fever fans booed Stephanie White

Stephanie White delivered a strong message ahead of Tuesday’s Indiana Fever-New York Liberty game. She fired back at those who criticized her for not having her players’ backs, particularly Sophie Cunningham. The crowd at Gainbridge Fieldhouse booed the head coach, but Caitlin Clark showed her support for her.

Cunningham was involved in a controversial moment during their previous matchup with the Chicago Sky. DiJonai Carrington received a Flagrant 2 foul after hitting her on the head, leading to her ejection. During her postgame availability, many believed White defended the Sky guard and did not protect Cunningham.

However, Clark made it clear after Tuesday’s starting lineup introductions that she did not like the booing.

Clark shared during her postgame presser that she told White they will win the game. She stressed that hearing the boos made her feel “a little sick.”

“I told her that before the game (that) there was no way we were losing this game for her,” Clark said. “It’s tough. That’s my head coach. I hated that our fans booed her before the game. That made me a little sick, to be honest. You can disagree and this and that, and I get it. It’s professional sports, people are going to boo, but at the end of the day, that’s our head coach, and we’re going to ride for her.”

Indiana is now on a two-game winning streak and aiming to win its third straight on Friday. The team will host the Dallas Wings ahead of a four-game road trip beginning on Sunday against the Atlanta Dream. Clark will likely be extra motivated to help deliver another victory for White and further improve the Fever’s record.
