When the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles last faced off, the former earned a 24-15 victory. The win prompted head coach Ben Johnson to take his shirt off in celebration.

This time around, things will look a lot different in the Bears vs. Eagles matchup. Namely, quarterback Caleb Williams seems unlikely to play due to a hamstring strain. Beyond just him though, the Eagles now have a full understanding of how the Bears look to operate on offense.

Both sides are entering the matchup with real Super Bowl intentions. Playing on Monday Night Football, the franchises have an opportunity to prove why they’re legit. It’s at least expected to be a hard fought battle.

Beyond winning, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has no ulterior motives. He is aware of how Chicago reacted last time they beat Philadelphia. But he isn’t focusing on outside noise.

In a sense, the revenge Philadelphia wants is simply defeating Chicago this time around. But 2025’s matchup won’t be bulletin board material for Sirianni, via Tim McManus of ESPN.

“We never really get into revenge,” Sirianni said. “That lasts about a minute and then your habits and your fundamentals take over.”

Even Johnson taking his shirt off doesn’t bother Sirianni. He doesn’t see it as pouring salt in the wound. Ultimately, he can’t change the Bears organization. The head coach can only focus on the Eagles, via Aldo Gandia of Bears Barroom.

“The last thing you can worry about as head coach is trying to please anyone outside your building,” Sirianni said. “You always got to be yourself. You’ve got to do it within the rules. Be yourself, have fun, enjoy this, do it within the rules. You can’t worry about pleasing anyone outside the building.”

“Regardless of what you do, you take your shirt off, you don’t take your shirt off, if you’re emotional, you’re not emotional,” he continued. “Some are going to say, ‘Man, I like that,’ some are going to be like, ‘Man, I don’t like that.’ That’s leadership. Your job is to be yourself and do everything you can do as a head coach to get your team ready to play and get your team better on a daily basis. Can’t look at the outside, it’s an impossible task.”

While Sirianni may not take last year’s loss personally, he is still looking to avenge it. The Bears know how difficult a task they’ll have on Monday night.
