Case Keenum’s blunt message before potential Chicago Bears start

Chicago Bears quarterback Case Keenum has found himself in a position not many thought he would be in. With both Caleb Williams and Tyson Bagent injured, Keenum is in line to start in Week 3 for the Chicago Bears.
Having 66 NFL starts under his belt, with appearances in 80 games overall, being under center is nothing new for Keenum. However, his last start and NFL pass attempt came back in 2023. While the Bears admire Keenum’s ability to operate as a peude0-coach, actually starting games as the QB3 wasn’t on their bingo card.
Despite the situation, the quarterback will still be entering Monday Night Football with high expectations. The Bears are still expecting to compete with if no taking down the Philadelphia Eagles.
With veteran wisdom to spare, Keenum is well aware of the challenge in front of him. The last thing he is going to do is back down.
Chicago Bears’ Case Keenum prepared for potential start
Despite being QB3, Keenum has been soaking in head coach Ben Johnson’s information the same as Williams and Bagent. He’s still putting in the work at practice and is ready whenever his name is called. While actually starting may be a shock, Keenum isn’t going to let it alter his preparation and play, via Kevin Fishbain of the Athletic.
“I feel very prepared,” Keenum said. “I’ve backed up a long time in this league. If my name’s called, I’m excited to be out there.”
“I tell you what, I love the feeling of being nervous. I do get nervous, and it’s not a scared nervous; it’s an excited nervous, because I know I’m prepared, I’m confident in my preparation and what I’ve done,” he continued. “I feel little butterflies. But it’s because I care. I love this game, I love this team and this Texas boy, I love Chicago, I really do.”
Johnson has already said that when it comes to game planning, nothing will change even if Williams isn’t under center. If Keenum gets the call, it’ll be up to the veteran to prove he still has gas left in the tank.
