Caleb Williams is no stranger to having doubters and proving them wrong. He silenced his critics during his collegiate career by winning the Heisman Trophy and earning unanimous All-American honors in 2022.
The start of the quarterback’s NFL career was underwhelming, but he bounced back strong last season.
Williams led the Chicago Bears to an NFC North win with an 11-6 record and reached the Divisional Round. The 24-year-old showed great composure under pressure and demonstrated his leadership. He completed 330-of-568 passes for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Chicago faces the NFL’s toughest schedule in 2026 but bolstered its roster this offseason. One of the areas it addressed was its secondary, along with setting up wide receiver Rome Odunze for a bigger role. The star quarterback’s connection with him will be key to the team’s success.

Williams did not deny that he has detractors. However, instead of firing back at them, he sent a defiant message. The 6-foot-1 signal-caller stressed that their comments give him more confidence to play better.
“Yeah, I love them,” Williams said on the “Pardon My Take” podcast. “It’s one of my favorite things. I don’t need them, but it’s always a little extra belief in myself, a little extra confidence in myself. It just throws a little bit of gas on the fire, and all you need is a little bit.”
He once again showed maturity beyond his years, which his teammates praised. Williams aims to let his game do the talking and lead the team to greater heights.
The NFC is stacked, but Chicago is up to the challenge. Having a young, motivated and capable quarterback in charge is one of its biggest assets, which it will look to maximize in the years to come.
