Sky star Natasha Cloud addresses future with team

The Chicago Sky wrapped up their regular season on Thursday. They lost their fifth game in their last six outings, leaving the front office office with big decisions to make in the offseason. One of them is whether to re-sign Natasha Cloud or allow her to leave in free agency.

She was a key piece of the team this year, appearing in 40 games. The veteran guard averaged 11.1 points on a career-high 49.0% shooting. Cloud added 3.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game. However, she is set to become an unrestricted free agent and other teams will likely show interest in her.

Chicago finished with a 16-28 record and 11th in the standings. The team will miss the WNBA playoffs for the third consecutive year after last reaching it in 2023. The team was eliminated via a first-round sweep.

Natasha Cloud speaks on future with Sky

Cloud admitted that free agency is not easy to maneuver. However, she made it clear that she enjoyed her time with the Sky and is happy to be part of what they’re building.

“Going into a FA, it’s another year of just kind of chaos that’s coming up,” Cloud said. “Culture, environment and overall logistics of teams that’s important to me at this point. I want to be a part of building something. That’s what I’ve enjoyed here.”

She entered the league as No. 15 overall pick in the second round in 2015. Cloud spent the first eight years of her career with the Washington Mystics, including 2021 when she opted to sit out. The 34-year-old landed with Chicago after spending a campaign each with the Phoenix Mercury and New York Liberty.

It unclear if she’ll agree to a new deal with the franchise. However, Cloud has emphasized what she’s looking for, leaving the door ajar for a potential return.
