Chicago Bears’ injury woes continue as Braxton Jones leaves Eagles clash

The Chicago Bears entered their Monday Night Football matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles already down quarterback Caleb Williams. Their injury woes didn’t get any easier seeing a key offensive lineman leave the game.
Left tackle Braxton Jones was forced to leave midway through the third quarter. The tackle was forced to go to the locker room with trainer in tow, via Mason Williams of the Times of Northwest Indiana.
“Walking off gingerly with arms wrapped around members of the #Bears training staff,” Williams wrote of Jones. “Caleb Williams goes and pats him on the shoulder, offers some words of support as Jones goes into the sideline medical tent.”
Jones was ultimately rule questionable with a knee injury, via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. In his absence, Theo Benedet will be filling in at left tackle. The Bears are sure to have further information after the game. For now, Jones’ status looks murky at left.
The veteran has filled in at Caleb Williams’ blindside admirably, at least according to head coach Ben Johnson. While Ozzy Trapilo is breathing down his neck amid his injury return, Jones hasn’t done anything to lose the job. When healthy, he would at least be in line to continue starting at left tackle.
Of course, Jones needs to be on the field to make an impact. The Bears will hope the left tackle’s knee injury doesn’t hold him out long-term.
