It’s been a rough start to the NBA season for the Chicago Bulls. Through the first six games of the season, the Bulls are 1-5 with their lone win coming in Milwaukee last Friday against a Bucks team that also has one win.
There have been some very frustrating moments for the Bulls but they have also played some tough teams such as Boston twice, and Toronto on the road once. Still, the losses can get frustrating especially early on in the season.
For the Bulls, the bright spot has been rookie wing Caleb Wilson. The former No. 4 overall pick has been among the best rookies in the NBA so far and has been Chicago’s best player. But he’s even getting tired of the losing, too.

The Bulls rebuild is going to center around Wilson, a talented player out of North Carolina. When Bryson Graham took over, he admitted this was a rebuild and his first pick was selecting Wilson. You could see right away that Wilson is not only mature on the court but off of it as well.
On Friday night after a tough road loss to Boston in the NBA Cup, Wilson let out his frustrations.
“I’ve never been a loser,” Wilson said to KC Johnson. “I’m not ever going to be accepting of losing. It’s my job to be a leader on this team. It’s probably the majority my fault we started the way we did, whether I’m a young player or not. I’ll take ownership of that and it won’t happen again.”
Wilson is right. He’s used to winning at all levels he’s played at. Now, he has faced some adversity in the past after getting hurt while at North Carolina, forcing him to miss the end of the season as well as the NCAA Tournament.
So far in Chicago, Wilson is averaging 21.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 41.7 percent from the field. On Friday, he had 23 points on 7 of 16 shooting while grabbing five rebounds and four assists.
The problems for Chicago center around the perimeter, not being able to make threes and giving up a lot to opposing teams. It’s going to be rough throughout the year but the focus should be on Wilson and his development.
