Jefferey Simmons makes promise about Bears-Packers rivalry

Jeffery Simmons has only been with the Chicago Bears for three days. However, he already understands how deep the team’s rivalry with the Green Bay Packers is. The veteran defensive tackle made a promise about it on Friday.

He landed in Chicago after a trade with the Tennessee Titans two days earlier. Simmons is coming off a strong 2025 season, earning his maiden first-team All-Pro selection and fourth Pro Bowl nod. He will address the Bears’ need for a proven DT as their defense is considered their weak spot.

Chicago and Green Bay already faced each other this season. The Packers won 31-7 in Week 5 at Lambeau Field. The good news is the Bears have bounced back with back-to-back wins, including a 30-24 victory over the New England Patriots in Week 7.

Jeffery Simmons vows to get on board quickly on Bears-Packers rivalry

Simmons admitted that he’s still new on on the Bears but stressed that he will take part in the rivalry.

“I’m sure the Chicago Bears hate the Packers around here,” Simmons said. “So trust me, I’ll get on board real soon with that, real quick with that.”

The rivals clashed three times in 2025. They split the regular-season results before Chicago eliminated Green Bay in the Wild Card Round. They will meet again on Christmas Day in Week 16, with the Bears hosting at Soldier Field.

Simmons should already acclimate to his new environment and gain a deeper understanding of the team’s playbook. He will seek to contribute immediately and could make the difference between winning and losing. The 29-year-old is known for applying a lot of pressure on opposing quarterbacks. He has 404 career combined tackles consisting of 170 assisted and 234 solo efforts. The Mississippi State product also has 70 tackles for loss, 44.5 sacks and 30 pass deflections under his name.
