The Chicago Bears are gearing up for a ferocious battle against the Seattle Seahawks. In a difficult matchup already, the Bears are hoping to have the cleanest bill of health possible.

But a sudden Colston Loveland injury has thrown a wrench into those plans. The tight end was limited on Friday with a neck injury, the team announced.

The fact Loveland was still able to practice, even on a limited basis, is a good sign. Being added to the injury report so late in the week remains concerning though. When the Bears release their injury report on Saturday, Chicago will have a better understanding of where the pass catcher stands health wise.

The Bears have already lost Cole Kmet for the season. They can’t afford to lose Loveland as well.

Much like his rookie campaign, Loveland got out to a slow start to begin his 2026 campaign. Outside of his six-grab 57 yard game against the Packers, the tight end failed to eclipse five catches and 40 yards through the first five weeks of the year.

With quarterback Caleb Williams back under center, Loveland has found his stride. He had six catches for 65 yards and a touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons before recording seven receptions for 69 yards and a score against the New England Patriots. Heading into Week 8, the pass catcher has made 26 catches for 244 yards and two touchdowns.

Loveland should only expect his numbers to go up moving forward, in part due to Kmet’s absence. But even with his slow start, the tight end ranks second on the Bears with 42 targets. He has a clear connection with Williams. One head coach Ben Johnson will look to exploit.

Of course, Loveland needs to be on the field to truly make an impact. The Bears will hope his pesky injury doesn’t force him to the sidelines.
